The All Progressives Congress National Woman Leader,Hajiya Salamatu Baiwa Umar-Eluma has advocated more concerted efforts from stakeholders to improve Girl child programs in the country.
Mrs Salamatu Baiwa dropped this message to mark this years International Day of Girl Child, held at the National Centre for Women Developement(NCWD), in Abuja.
She enjoined that all hands must be on deck, to salvage the Girl Child from the vulnerable status, to give hope to them, in line with the international standards and adherence.
The National Woman Leader advised the participants to be hardworking,diligent and discipline in their endeavours,particularly with their studies,geared towards realising their potentials in life.
‘We had young girls present whom we imparted our words of wisdom and celebrated their potential. I had the privilege of speaking to them and told them not to relent in their efforts; and to be committed to their studies and future dreams’.
She said this year’s celebration coincided with the 74th United Nations General Assembly, were issues like Girl child Education, Women inclusion and other issues that had direct bearing on women was deliberated and solutions profered globally.
Mrs Umar Eluma described Girl Child elducation as panacea to the developement of any society,as women education guarantees social and economic emancipation of any society.
